Wholesale demand response mechanism – everything you need to know (podcast)

The wholesale demand response mechanism is one of the biggest rule changes in the history of Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM). This rule change will effectively decouple retail electricity supply from demand response. This will be done through the creation of a new category of market participant called the Demand Response Service Provider (DRSP). The DRSP will be able to aggregate demand response and bid it directly into the wholesale energy market, without having to be the retailer for the load.
The wholesale demand response mechanism will come into effect on 24 October 2021.
